This spectacular EV runs on two electric motors regardless of the core chosen, but they aren’t just any electric motors. One motor is 80 kWh, and the other is 150 kWh, with no preference as to which motor powers which axle.
You read that right. These technological marvels don’t operate independently the way they do in most EVs. They work together, and the power they generate is 100% transferable to any or all of the wheels as needed. It’s hard to overstate just how rare that feature is.
As an example, a driver rolling down the road has perfect traction on three of his vehicle’s tires, but one slips so badly that all of the overall motor power is needed to make it regain a safe grip. This system can shift every bit of power to any wheel that requires it almost instantaneously.
In short, it’s nigh-upon impossible to get a more efficient motor-to-wheel power allocation system in an EV today. The first of the two electric motors put out 210 horsepower, and the second generates 107 horsepower. The torque rating and unified horsepower rating have yet to be released by Lexus.
Range and Other Ratings
The 2023 Lexus RZ 450e uses the above core setup to travel up to 225 miles on a single charge. It also comes with an even more eco-friendly green efficiency mode, allowing it to travel 126.7 miles with almost zero ecological impact. The battery cores available for this vehicle are of a make not often seen in civilian vehicles. They’re lithium-ion batteries, but in an innovative 400-volt, 96-cell format.
This format makes the batteries even more effective at holding a charge and repeatedly recharging without deterioration than the average lithium-ion battery of the present generation. Most EVs have a hard time towing at all, but the power ratings of the electric motors in this Lexus vehicle allow this one to tow up to 1,653 pounds while carrying a full complement of passengers.
A Safety-Magnifying Interior Function Setup
Many current-generation vehicles, full-electric and otherwise, have some degree of hands-free technology to increase driver safety. The 2023 Lexus RZ 450e takes this trend to the next level with its infotainment and interior feature access designs. Gone are the old, tired, cumbersome dials and buttons that litter so many main consoles. Almost every interior entertainment and infotainment feature can be controlled through the large screen of the infotainment system.
Additionally, the accompanying voice-command programming makes it possible for the driver to adjust almost any setting the vehicle has with a simple spoken command. The steering wheel also comes with a range of easy-to-reach buttons, so the driver almost never needs to take their eyes off the road to optimize their driving experience.
A Fantastic Set of Luxury Features and Paint Options
The 2023 Lexus RZ 450e is bedecked with magnificent luxury features inside and out. It comes with 20-inch, 10-spoke black and machine-finish alloy wheels, radiant front seat knee heaters, heated rear seats, UltraSuede upholstery, a panoramic glass roof with an auto-dimming feature, a standard-issue wireless phone charger, and the ultra-precise Drive Connect Cloud Navigation system. The wheels are also available in 20-inch split 10-spoke Gunmetal finish alloy wheels. Its sound system is the final word in luxury vehicle musical tech: a Mark Levinson 12-channel, 13-speaker version with a massive 1,800-watt amplifier.
It also comes equipped with Lexus’ signature ghost shadow interior lighting units, which project the Lexus name and icon onto the flat interior surfaces of the vehicle. Other fantastic features in this EV include the Lexus Safety System+ 3.0, an intuitive parking assistance system that can parallel park, park forward, or park in reverse, and a 14-inch touch-screen Lexus Interface display. The 2023 Lexus RZ 450e is available in Iridium, Ether, Eminent White Pearl, Cloudburst Grey, Caviar, Ether and Black Onyx, and Black Onyx and Cloudburst Grey paint colors.
