Lexus RX 450h
The 2017 RX 450h is powered by a 3.5-liter Atkinson-cycle engine combined with an electric motor, shifting power seamlessly between the two with the Lexus Hybrid Drive System. The model has standard all-wheel drive, and the engine is mated to a continuously variable automatic transmission. Audi Q5 Hybrid
The 2016 Q5 Hybrid has a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4 engine combined with an electric motor and generator. It makes a combined 245 horsepower and 350 lb-ft of torque, getting from zero to 60 a little speedier than the Lexus, at 6.8 seconds. However, for Los Angeles drivers who stay mainly in the city, the fuel economy difference may be a deal breaker. The Q5 Hybrid gets an EPA-estimated 24 MPG city and 30 MPG highway.
Safety
Lexus RX 450h
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety named the 2017 Lexus RX a Top Safety Pick+ after it earned perfect scores on all crash tests. Additionally, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration gave it a 5-Star Overall Rating.
The RX comes standard with the Lexus Safety System+, which includes a Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, All-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, intelligent high-beam headlamps, Lane Departure Alert with Steering Assist, and Lane Keep Assist. Additionally, all models feature a backup camera and LED foglamps.
Audi Q5 Hybrid
The 2016 Q5 was also named a Top Safety Pick+ by the IIHS, but the NHSTA gave it just a 4-Star Overall rating. It lost points in tests for frontal crash and rollover.
The 2016 Q5 is also lacking considerably in the driver assistance tech department. While it does come with a rearview camera and available parking assistance, blind spot detection, and adaptive cruise control, it does not come available with a pre-collision braking system or lane keeping assistance.

Inspired by Japanese aesthetics, the 2018 LS is modern and innovative yet classic inside and out. The RX 350’s cabin is the lap of luxury, even if you choose the base model. It features perforated NuLuxe interior trim, leather-trimmed steering wheel and shift knob, power-adjustable front seats, 40/20/40 split-folding and reclining rear seats, cargo-area tonneau cover, electrochromatic inside mirror, and power-adjustable and heated exterior mirrors. Heated front and rear seats, ventilated front seats, heated steering wheel, and power-folding 60/40 split are also available on all models of the RX.

Engine
This year’s RX 350 adds significant horsepower thanks to an updated powertrain. Under the hood, the RX 350 has a 3.5-liter V6 engine mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission with paddle shifters, making 295 horsepower and 267 lb-ft of torque.

Review: 2017 Lexus LX 570
For Angelenos who need a regular respite from the city to head to the mountains or the desert, a fully capable luxury SUV is in order. Some automakers equip their utes with surface-level features that make them seem like they can handle life off the pavement, but fall short once you look for must-haves like multi-mode suspension and standard four-wheel drive.
The 2017 Lexus LX 570 is no such vehicle. It has everything you want in a luxury SUV, plus everything you need to take it off road. Read on for our full review:
Performance
The 2017 LX 570 is powered by a 5.7-liter V8 engine that churns out 383 horsepower and 403 lb-ft of torque, mated to an 8-speed sequential-shift automatic Electronically Controlled Transmission. The Lexus ute has an elegant feel behind the wheel, but don’t let that fool – this is a legitimate SUV with a truck-style body-on-frame chassis and three-mode independent suspension, capable of towing up to 7,000 pounds.
Additionally, its full-time four-wheel drive with TORSEN limited-slip center differential bolsters a suite of intelligent performance features. Crawl Control can be activated with the press of a button and automatically gives you a slow and steady pace over uncertain terrain, while the Multi-Terrain Select system lets you adjust traction and response, whether you’re traversing rock, dirt, gravel, mud, or sand. Further, Active Height Control lets you raise the vehicle by up to three inches, giving you better wheel articulation and allowing you to accommodate rough terrains.

This seven-seat SUV has three rows of highly configurable, leather-lined seating. It has a standard 14-way power adjustable driver’s seat and 12-way power adjustable passenger’s seat, and the option to add semi-aniline leather seating. Standard four-zone climate control, interior ambient lighting, and artisan crafted wood trim remind you that this is a luxury vehicle.
Safety
Lexus equipped the LX 570 with the Lexus Safety System+, which includes Pre-Collision System with Pedestrian Detection, All-Speed Dynamic Radar Cruise Control, Intelligent High-Beam Headlamps, and Lane Assist Technology. This system does not cost extra, which not many other automakers can tout.
